8 Fascinating X-Men: Days Of Future Past Theories

1. The End Introduces Apocalypse As The Major New Villain

Whilst the details over Days of Future Past may suggest that the world in 2023 is near-destroyed, the title X-Men: Apocalypse, pencilled in for a 2016 release, may suggest that Wolverine and the gang don't save the day.But Apocalypse, we must remember, is also a mutant from the X-Men universe. Yes, Apocalypse is ancient, regenerative and a genius; he has molecular control over his body, can survive any wound, and is capable of absorbing energy, telepathy, telekinesis and technopathy. Not only does that sound like the ultimate villain, but is possibly the only way to follow up the huge Days of Future Past. Why It Could Be True: For a start, the film is named after this villain. Bringing in a threat of this magnitude would certainly justify the Fantastic Four and Gambit crossovers, and rather like X-Men: The Last Stand, it's been suggested that a post-credits scene could take place introducing the villain; rumour has it that the first mutant he meets is Fassbender's Magneto.
