2. A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
The fifth and worst instalment in the iconic franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard brings Bruce Willis's latter-day cowboy John McClane to Russia in an attempt to save his son John McClane, Jr. from prison after he is convicted of an assassination attempt. McClane arrives and goes to court where his son is going to testify against political prisoner Komarov in order for a shorter sentence. However, Viktor Chagarin, a corrupt Russian politician, bombs the courthouse in an attempt to silence Komarov. McClane and his son end up on the run with Komarov while Chagarin and his men chase them; of course, chaos ensues and billions of dollars of property damage is caused. McClane discovers that his son is a CIA agent attempting to bring down Chagarin (why America is interested in him is never explained). More chaos occurs before it is revealed that Komarov is actually trying to get his hands on uranium and get revenge on Chagarin. Chagarin is killed, and McClane and his son successfully stop Komarov and his crazed daughter. The day is saved, huzzah! Not quite. The property damage of the McClane clan's rampage through Russia would certainly not endear them to the government, and when it's discovered that one of them is a CIA agent, that would not exactly improve the situation. A high ranking Russian politician was killed during their time in the country, and a courthouse was bombed; someone who didn't have all the details could easily link those back to the Americans and reignite a much hotter Cold War.
