8 More Films That Clearly Ended With World War 3

1. Olympus Has Fallen (2013)

olympus has fallen The easiest on this list to explain, Olympus Has Fallen takes Gerard Butler's Secret Service agent Mike Banning through a North Korea-occupied White House in an attempt to save the President and several members of his staff. The plot proper begins with a group of guerrilla fighters led by the North Korean terrorist Kang taking over the White House and kidnapping the President, the Vice President, the Secretary of Defense, and a few other members of the Cabinet. Banning, former head of the President's Secret Service detail, is present in the White House, unbeknownst to the terrorists. Sounds a lot like Die Hard, right? The comparisons continue. Banning moves through "Olympus", taking out terrorists as he goes, while Kang tortures and executes members of the Cabinet to gain access codes necessary for detonating all of America's nuclear missiles right in their silos. He also wants all U.S. forces to pull out of South Korea so that North Korea can invade and unify the peninsula. Banning eventually succeeds in saving the President, halting Kang's plot and saving America from nuclear devastation. In the biggest overlook of this list, Olympus Has Fallen never even hints at the aftermath of the day's events; the President himself was taken hostage and there was a clear intent to horribly and irrevocably damage the United States. North Korea had better batten down the hatches; a swift reprisal for the attack will be hitting any day.
