8 Films To Get Excited About In December 2014

1. The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies

Release Date: 12th December The Talent: Peter Jackson (Director); Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom, Richard Armitage, Cate Blanchett The Story: Bilbo and friends fight in a terrifying war, whilst trying to stop Smaug from acquiring a kingdom of treasure and destroying all of Middle-Earth. Why We Should Be Excited: Because it's The Hobbit! Peter Jackson! Middle-Earth! The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies will be massive, there is no doubt about that. The previous two instalments made nearly $2 billion dollars at the worldwide box office, so it would be shocking if this one didn't make similar money. Positioned as a Christmas treat three years in a row, the same way the original Lord Of The Rings trilogy was, The Hobbit has managed to recreate some of the magic of that trilogy and become a worthy successor. This third and final picture will feature more of the gloriously realised Smaug the Dragon, voiced with oozing menace by Benedict Cumberbatch. There will also be a heck of a lot of spectacular fighting, judging by the title. This is definitely the event movie of December, the one that everyone will be talking about. If you've seen the previous two, then surely there's no way you'd miss out on the last one? Well, what do you plan on seeing in December (besides The Hobbit, obviously)? Are there any releases in the month that have been missed but deserve to be mentioned? Sound off in the comments below.
