Release Date: 26th December The Talent: Ridley Scott (Director); Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Aaron Paul, Ben Kingsley, John Turturro The Story: Bible epic telling the tale of Moses (Bale), who rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Edgerton). Why We Should Be Excited: Ridley Scott gives very good epic. The acclaimed director of Gladiator and Kingdom Of Heaven this time turns to the Bible for inspiration and will surely deliver a visual marvel at the very least and a barnstorming spectacle at best. As well as the pedigree of the director, the movie also stars Batman himself, Christian Bale, as Moses and rising Australian star Joel Edgerton (Warrior, The Great Gatsby), almost unrecognisable as Ramses. It's nice to see Aaron Paul in a supporting role as well, as he is a truly magnificent actor who was consistently one of the best things in Breaking Bad. Expectations may need to be tempered just a bit, however, with the knowledge that Ridley Scott's last two films were the forgettable box-office flop The Counselor, and Prometheus, the less said of which the better. March of this year also saw the release of Noah, another Biblical epic come CGI action spectacular starring Russell Crowe, and it didn't exactly set the world alight, so it would be surprising if there weren't a few nervous heads over at Fox right now. Hopefully Mr Scott will deliver the goods with this one, however, and it will be his return to form.
