8 Final Horror Movie Girls Who Ended Up Dying Anyway

The sole survivor of telekinetic anti-hero Carrie's (Sissy Spacek) gymnasium rampage in 1976, Sue Snell (Amy Irving) only gets out alive thanks to coincidence, dumb luck, and a slightly kinder heart than her classmates. After convincing her boyfriend to take Carrie to the prom, Sue is chucked out of the event by her teacher -- on suspicion of the very kind of mean-spirited prank her classmates are trying to pull (buckets, pigs blood, etcetera) -- which inadvertently saves her life when Carrie seals the doors and burns down the gym.

While Carrie might have been the obvious final girl for her own film, her self-destruction at the film's conclusion leaves meek, repentant Sue to carry the mantle.

Twenty-odd years later, Sue (with Amy Irving reprising the role) is guidance counsellor at a new school in the frankly diabolical sequel The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999). Aside from a catchy title that just rolls off the tongue, The Rage doesn't have a whole lot to offer Brian de Palma and Stephen King's Carrie mythos.

Introducing us to Rachel (Emily Bergl) -- a kind of put-upon Shirley Manson wannabe, and Carrie's half-sister -- The Rage dances on the grave of the first feature for an hour and a half or so before unceremoniously killing Sue with a fire poker through the head.
