8 Final Horror Movie Girls Who Ended Up Dying Anyway
1. Laurie Strode -- Halloween
Widely recognised as one of the most badass final girls of all time, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has fought Michael Myers in various incarnations over the decades and usually come out on top -- despite the fact that she was saved by a man (Dr Loomis, played by Donald Pleasance) in John Carpenter's Halloween (1978).
Along with her mother Janet Leigh, Curtis is recognised as one of the most iconic scream queens, thanks to her seemingly never-ending returns to the Halloween franchise, but that doesn't mean she's been exempt from the reaper's cold embrace. Curtis's Laurie has actually died twice over seven-film run with the series. The first was offscreen, between the events of Halloween II (1981) and Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988); the second in Halloween: Resurrection (2022), which along with H20 (1998) retconned the earlier narrative, only to have Michael finally put his knife through her and, well, drop her off a roof.
Laurie's arc has since been retconned again (third time lucky!) for David Gordon Green's Halloween trilogy, which discarded every single sequel in the series. But, whichever way you cut it, the body count of the original films still stands.
