8 Fixes That Would've Improved No Time To Die

6. Give Madeleine An Actual Secret

This one shows just how important it is to get marketing right. The trailers insisted that Madeleine Swann was hiding a shattering secret from Bond, but in the film she really isn't. That line from the trailers where Blofeld (Christoph Waltz, who's criminally wasted yet AGAIN) says that Madeleine's got a secret that'll be the death of Bond was actually taken completely out of context. What he meant was that she never betrayed Bond and that he'd set her up as such to destroy Bond's relationship with her.

All she's actually hiding is that she has history with Safin and since we all already knew this and since this isn't the kind of reveal that would've affected her and Bond's romance in the end, it carries absolutely no weight at all. It's jarring to say the least given how much the trailers built this up.

Basically, there were two fixes here. Firstly, they could've given Madeleine a proper secret that challenged her and Bond's relationship. For example, imagine how powerful it would've been had it been revealed she'd been responsible for introducing Vesper Lynd (who should've been mentioned more, given how important she is to the development of this incarnation of Bond) to her father.

Secondly, they could've changed the marketing and downplayed Madeleine having a big secret. Either way, this needed changing.
