8 Great Characters Sony's Marvel Movies Have Completely Screwed Up
4. Ghost Rider
The first Ghost Rider movie was generic and bland, and the stylised sequel failed to improve on that despite giving us a maniacal Nicolas Cage and the sight of the titular hero taking a fiery p*ss. The biggest problem was no doubt the decision to cast Cage in a role he was a good ten or possibly even twenty years too old for. He just wasn't even remotely convincing as Johnny Blaze and sticks out like a sore thumb in both films. One area in which these movies didn't disappoint was with Ghost Rider's appearance (it's pretty tough to get a fiery skull wrong though in all honesty), but they still never properly delved into his abilities or the mythology surrounding his abilities. There was certainly a half hearted attempt at that, but when you can't even get a villain as great as Mephisto right, it's probably best to just give up... which Sony did after the sequel.
