5. The Hangover (2009)
The Hangover is a testosterone comedy centered around four idiots after a night of binge drinking, those aren't exactly the pieces of a critical darling. The trailer was probably all the talk amongst the people on your high school football team, but shrugged off by everyone else. Then the movie came out and the world stopped turning. Everyone loved it. It was a movie literally anyone could laugh at, whether it be at Ken Jeong jumping out of that trunk naked, Ed Helms' Tiger song, or literally anything Zach Galifianakis said or did. There are countless buddy-movies that none of us remember because they sucked, and The Hangover easily could have been just another movie that found itself in the bottom of a Best Buy $5 barrel.
