8 Gritty Movie Reboots We'd Secretly Love

6. Sonic The Hedgehog

The Sonic games all had an underlying theme of animal cruelty in them, why else would Robotnik insist on keeping woodland critters trapped in giant, spring-pad-release metal boxes? So this needs to be opened up for the big screen, explore just why the Eggman is taking so many furry creatures hostage, just what is the going on in his labs? Premise: Sonic is a character of almost Hancock levels of professionalism. He spends his days snow boarding and eating chili dogs whilst feeding his compulsive desire to collect gold rings. But all that has to change one day when his best friend Tails is kidnapped by the evil Dr Robotnik, forcing Sonic to change his lifestyle, shake of the shackles of his compulsion and save his friend. Sonic must take a break-neck speed path through a landscape straight out of the dream worlds of Inception to bring down the sinister robotic army of the Eggman. But can he stomach the grotesque creations made from the animals he used to know? Cast: Chris Evans (Sonic), Ben Kingsley (Dr Robotnik), Evan Peters (Tails)
