8 Gritty Movie Reboots We'd Secretly Love

5. Hulk Hogan

If there's anything that we love more than a gritty reboot, it's a gritty biographical telling of someone's actual origin story. What we're looking for here is a film akin to Rocky, but with an out of his luck boxer being replaced by a magnificently facial haired man in spandex. It's time to take one of the most widely recognised faces of the 80s and 90s and thrust him back into the hearts of the public, as they get to see his glorious ascent to his icon status. Premise: Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea is an unassuming giant of a man who makes a meager living from squashing slightly less enormous men into gym floor pancakes. His luck turns one day when a chance meeting with Vince McMahon Snr. gives Hogan his big chance, and a brief stint in the WWF follows, before some poor career advice sees him spending the next few years wrestling in Japan. Despite a much improved quality of life, Hogan was trapped playing the heel, loved by few and depression took a terrible grip on him. But a change in image from villain to hero saw him pulled back to his homeland by McMahon Jnr, as world domination lay in wait for the man in the yellow spandex. Cast: Tom Hardy (Hulk Hogan)
