8 Hopes We Have For Upcoming Blockbusters (That Will Probably Never Happen)

3. Yukio Will Be A Lead Character In Another Wolverine Movie

Yukio was a very pleasant surprise for me in The Wolverine. In many ways, she's written as a very conventional sidekick, but the way Rila Fukushima played her and how her role was handled overall, there was a lot of fun and nuance there. How cool would it be to make good on the premise teased at the film's conclusion and really have Wolverine and Yukio embarking on an adventure side by side? Unfortunately, the entertainment industry seems to have issues with consistent female leads across movies, especially platonic ones. The X-Men movies have proven to be resistant to this, but The Wolverine is part of a spin-off series, and Yukio isn't nearly as popular a character as Storm, Rogue, or Shadowcat. I think what is more likely to happen in the next movie if there is one is her character being written off, either in a line of dialogue or like Cyclops in the movie that shall not be named. I really, really hope I'm wrong on this one.
