8 Hopes We Have For Upcoming Blockbusters (That Will Probably Never Happen)

2. A John Carter Sequel Has A Chance Of Happening Before We Get Into TRON Territory

Yes, I know, not everyone is a fan of John Carter. But the fans are out there. They are many, they are passionate, and their hope is greater than the much of the mainstream understands. And for good reason. The bond between John Carter and Dejah Thoris is a strong one, and this was demonstrated both in the books and in the movie. In the second book, the stakes only get higher, against a backdrop about the atrocities that can at times be committed by organized religion, written in early 1900s America no less. In the opening sequence, Carter has to fight off swarms of startlingly violent plant aliens shoulder-to-shoulder with Tars Tarkas, and the book doesn't let up from there. The majority of the story is essentially one long action sequence, and if the enthusiasm Andrew Stanton held for the material was any indication, we were in for some cool moviegoing over the remainder of his John Carter Trilogy. But as the title of the related book by Michael D. Sellers suggests, although John Carter ultimately proves to be stronger than the Gods of Mars, the "Gods of Hollywood" represent a different challenge altogether. Hopefully it doesn't take Disney 20 years to realize their mistake.
