8 Horror Characters We Were Happy To See Killed

3. Heather - The Blair Witch Project

So annoying was Heather Donahue - played by the real-life Heather Donahue - in the revolutionary The Blair Witch Project, the character has gone on to become mocked in so many other movies and skits over the subsequent decades since that film's 1999 release. And the accompanying image here, that was the very last thing Heather saw before seemingly taking her final breath.

The Blair Witch Project was both a blessing and a curse, in that it was the movie responsible for popularising the concept of the found-footage movie, which also means it was indirectly responsible for the countless awful found-footage films that would follow.

As Heather, Mike, and Josh embark on a mission to investigate the urban legend of a strange witch who gets people to carry out heinous acts, the trio soon find themselves finding out that there really is something ominously eerie going on in the woods of Burkittsville.

With Josh disappearing early on, Heather and Mike's search for their friend leads to their own downfalls. But throughout the search, the audience spends the majority of its time with Heather - and Heather is, quite frankly, a pain in the ass.

Heather's death is implied rather than seen on camera, with her being attacked by an unseen presence in the final shot of The Blair Witch Project, but it was an implied demise that audiences had spent 80 minutes of snotty-nosed whining hoping for.
