8 Horror Movie Villains That Just Weren't Scary

5. Dr. Alan Feinstone (The Dentist)

Not many people enjoy going to the dentist's office. The thought of having a tooth removed or a root canal is enough to send shivers down the spine of some. Yes, the dentist can be a painful experience. This 1996 horror film played up on that fact. Main character Dr. Feinstone seemingly has everything he could ever want: a nice house, a decent practice, a great reputation and a beautiful wife. Problem is, his wife is cheating on him. Her infidelity causes Feinstein to lose it and he begins hallucinating and taking out his aggression on his patients. He saves the worst for wife Brooke, taking out her teeth and cutting her tongue in what must surely be considered malpractice. Despite the promising premise The Dentist is a very poor film and Feinstone is an equally terrible villain. He is too cartoonish and OTT to be taken seriously. Plus, he's a dentist. The ending, with Feinstone confined to a psychiatric hospital and being taken to his regular dentist appointment only to discover his toothless wife is the dentist, underlines the silliness.
