8 Horror Movies Twice As Terrifying On The Second Watch
5. Audition
For the uninitiated, this film is the story of a widower who sets up a fake audition in order to meet a new girlfriend. He seems to meet the perfect match when the young, beautiful Asami responds to the audition. But Asami is far more than she appears, something that's slowly revealed to both the viewer and the widower throughout the film.
Along the way, there are some unsettling moments - as well as one of the greatest jump scares in cinematic history - but the climax is what makes this movie infamous.
For many viewers, this movie sits comfortably on their "Watch Once and Never Again" list - and for good reason.
But if you can stomach a second viewing, you'll find it even more unsettling. Because knowing what's to come, and waiting for it to come, can make the viewing experience nearly unbearable. It's similar to the tension evoked in the first Saw film, because you knew someone was going to cut their foot off... you just didn't know when.
In this case, you know the excruciating piano scene is coming, and the only way to stop it is to stop watching.
