8 Horror Movies Where The Villain Is Really The Hero

4. Saw - John Kramer

Saw 2 Jigsaw
Lionsgate

John Kramer, aka the Jigsaw Killer, is a person responsible for putting so many others through some horrendous acts - with several of those horrendous acts resulting in someone's death.

On paper, Kramer is a twisted, chilling villain with nothing but evil intentions. There's a lot more to this character than simply being bad for the sake of being bad, though.

Upon learning that he had an inoperable tumor that had developed from colon cancer, John decides to end his own life. It's only when that suicide attempt goes wrong that John has his lightbulb moment about how every day is precious and that so many lives are wasted.

With that thought process, Kramer takes on the moniker of Jigsaw and constructs traps designed to push the human limit of his victims. But John is only doing this for the benefit of those he has targeted - for he is on a (albeit slightly skewed) heroic crusade to make people iron out their flaws and live life in a more harmonious way.

Are Jigaw's tactics a little heavy handed? Just a tad. Yet, at least in the mindset of some, Jigsaw is the hero of the Saw franchise - as his intention is to make people be better versions of themselves.
