6. Silent Hill And Village Of The Damned

In a nod to the famous film that has come before it, Silent Hill contains a nod to Village of the Damned, both featuring Midwich as the central location for the narrative's spooky goings-on.

In the 1960 Carpenter classic, Midwich undergoes a strange phenomenon where all the townspeople are rendered unconscious for a few hours, before waking up seemingly fine.

When it's discovered that all the women have been impregnated and give birth to strange telepathic children a few months later, unusual deaths begin to occur throughout the village. Surprise surprise, it's the weird white-haired, claw-fingered, completely un-empathetic children that are doing it.

Silent Hill also has strange supernatural goings on, with a town that switches between 'normal' and plagued by a dark transformation, with the elementary school named after the very same location in Village of the Damned. Connected in name and straight up weirdness, Silent Hill could be referencing the 1960s event in a haunted rendition of what happened in the past - retaining the memories of the so called damned-village.

Silent Hill even has an event with a bunch of grey ghost-like children if you needed more convincing. They even look like they're burning, much in the same way the Village of the Damned children would have been after being wiped out with a bomb...
