8 Horror Movies You Won’t Watch Once You Know The Truth

2. The Omen

Despite his cute little suit and stylish cap, don't let that fool you that what you're looking at in this image is a creepy little sh*t of the highest order.

The Omen, of course, is a movie based around the young Damien Thorn, aka the Antichrist.

As a horror picture, Richard Donner's 1976 offering is an all-time classic, with Gregory Peck and Lee Remick on majestic form as the parents who have to come to the realisation of who and what their 'son' really is. Away from the film itself, though, The Omen is a project full of ominous forewarning and death.

Hollywood famously has plenty of films dubbed as 'cursed,' and The Omen definitely fits that bill. So much so, that the tragedy surrounding The Omen will have you second guessing whether you even want to watch the film again - for the fear of something horrible happening to you, dear reader!

One of the most notable scenes of The Omen is the gnarly, sliding-glass decapitation of David Warner's Keith Jennings. Chillingly, the special effects designer of that scene, John Richardson, would see his partner decapitated in a car accident shortly after The Omen wrapped.

That's not the only piece of dark arts surrounding the film, however, for star Gregory Peck missed his intended flight to the film's England shooting location. Taking a later flight instead, Peck would discover that his originally planned flight crashed and killed everybody on board.

Elsewhere, the scene where Lee Remick's Katherine Thorn and Harvey Stephens' Damien get attacked by baboons in a safari park became all too real. When their car stalled, the pair were genuinely stuck, as baboons went crazy on and around the vehicle - meaning the reactions seen on film are ones of legitimate terror. Oh, and one of the animal handlers was mauled to death.
