8 Huge Captain America: Civil War & Doctor Strange Reveals From D23
3. Doctor Strange's Costume
Captain America: Civil War may have been the main focus of Marvel's D23 panel, but there was still one more very cool reveal in that concept art shown off for Doctor Strange. With Kevin Feige describing him as an "extraordinary character" who "brings in a whole other dimension - hmm, multiple dimensions - to the Marvel universe", his costume was finally revealed, and it sounds very comic book faithful. He was apparently depicted in that classic red cape and a more traditional blue outfit which clearly pays homage to the work of Steve Ditko. Interestingly, another look was showcased for Strange which saw him in a trench coat, so it could be that he has multiple outfits in the movie as he progresses from surgeon to Sorcerer Supreme. One other interesting note is that Cumberbatch had been given the greying temples which his comic book counterpart is often portrayed with. Baron Mordo meanwhile had his familiar goatee and a greyish black costume. The version of The Ancient One shown off to fans at the event was clearly a man too. There are those who have jumped to the conclusion that that must have been artwork from before Swinton was cast, but as she revealed in a recent interview that they've yet to decide whether she'll play Strange's mentor as a man or woman, it sounds like this interpretation of the character is going to be very unique indeed.
