8 HUGE Movies That Were Cancelled Just Before Shooting
6. Nosebleed
An example of a film that was rightly shelved before production was fully underway, Nosebleed is the strangely prophetic movie that starred Jackie Chan as a window cleaner that stops a terrorist attack. It sounds innocuous enough on the surface, that is, until you learn that filming was set to take place in 2001 - and that it was set in the World Trade Center towers.
Shortly before filming would have began, the terrible events of 9/11 unfolded, resulting in the immediate cancellation of Nosebleed for its thematic similarities to avoid any premature or insensitive film portrayals of the tragedy. The script hasn't ever officially made it out into the public, but popular consensus is that a line from the treatment reads:
"It represents everything America is about. And to bring those two buildings down would bring America to its knees."
It's hardly surprising that this one was taken off shelves particularly quickly, and thankfully has been left alone ever since.
