8 HUGE Movies That Were Cancelled Just Before Shooting
5. Silver & Black
Another comic book movie that was condemned straight to development hell, Silver & Black is the film that would have brought Silver Sable and Black Cat together on screen for some lovely team-up action, born from Sony's 'MCU-adjunct' world that features the Spider-Man properties (such as the recent Venom movie).
The film was set to have Silver Sable hunting down Black Cat, with the pair teaming up by the credits to take down the antagonist Mendel Stromm. With Gina Prince-Bythewood directing and a filming date set for spring 2018, it looked like a done deal that had fans desperately excited - until rewrites pushed the production schedule back and Sony decided to rework the project into multiple offshoots.
Essentially, this film wasn't properly canned, but split into two new endeavours that will be separate stories for both women rather than a crossover. It's great to still be getting them on screen, but pretty gutting that the Silver & Black that was promised has been lost to production issues. Here's hoping we don't get two bog standard origin stories in Silver & Black's wake.
