8 HUGE Movies That Were Cancelled Just Before Shooting

1. Justice League Mortal

George Miller is a celebrated director thanks almost to his amazing work on the Mad Max series, and whilst we got a taste of what he could do elsewhere with the Babe and Happy Feet movies (yes, really), it's Justice League Mortal that stands as the film that got away for his filmography. Coming before Marvel's breakout feature of The Avengers, this Justice League movie would have solidified DC's position in the comic book industry in a way the studio has never really experienced post MCU. But the $250 million movie got binned literally days before shooting by the unfortunate stroke of... logistical errors.

A tax rebate for filming in Australia got pulled at the last minute by a cobbled-together committee, and then the writers strike of 2007 took effect and the movie spiralled out of control. Others involved in the film believed that Warner Bros. didn't want to compete with other iterations of Superman and Batman already on the market, so the push behind the film died on that front, too.

Considering sets were made, actors were cast, costumes were done - this was by far one of the most dramatic cancellations of a big name movie to happen, and one fans still wish for to this day. Anything to wash away the taste of the most recent Justice League would do though, to be honest.
