8 Insane DC Extended Universe Rumours You Need To See To Believe

1. Michael Shannon Is Definitely, Maybe Playing Doomsday

Another rumour which seems to have been doing the rounds for a very long time now is that Doomsday will be the main villain in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year. When Lex Luthor gets his hands on the corpse of General Zod, his tinkering apparently transforms the dead Kryptonian into Doomsday, with the mindless beast going on a rampage and forcing Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman to team-up to take him down. That all makes sense and appeared to be confirmed in the Comic-Con trailer featuring a ravaged battlefield and the body of Zod in LexCorp. In fact, why have I even categorised this as an "insane" rumour?! Well, here's where things get...weird. Michael Shannon seemingly confirmed that he'll play some kind of beast in Batman v Superman when he mentioned having to wear "flippers" to shoot his scenes, only to later go back on those comments by claiming he was just joking and would actually be appearing in a similar ghostly way to Russell Crowe's Jor-El in Man of Steel. Then, a VFX supervisor told one fan on Instagram that Doomsday won't be in the movie, only to delete that post and his account when the story went viral. As a result, the evidence does point to Doomsday not being in the movie, making the rumour about him squaring off with The Trinity a little hard to believe. It would certainly be epic to see them battling Doomsday (a villain who should arguably be saved for Man of Steel 2 rather than being used here as a plot device to unite the Justice League), but it may be for the best to accept that there's a chance it won't be happening! Still, rumours of his role in Batman v Superman hail from a reliable source, so Doomsday could very well show up despite evidence to the contrary. Alas, we'll just have to wait and see...
