8 Little Known Tics That Made Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man Perfect
7. He Improvises A Lot
Even more of Iron Man's success is down to Downey than you probably expect, because the original film actually started shooting without a full script: there was a plot outline, but the actors were then called upon to improvise certain scenes, nobody more so than Downey. Most dialogue-based scenes were shot with two cameras at once to capture any improvised dialogue, and Downey made heavy use of this, with his charming contributions in many ways accounting for why the final product was so fun and entertaining. This carries through to the Avengers movies, also: remember the "That man is playing Galaga" line in The Avengers? Downey came up with that on the spot, and writer-director Joss Whedon liked it so much that he included it and had the visual effects department superimpose the Galaga screen into the movie. The shawarma line at the end of the movie was also made up by him and, let's face it, if you can add clever dialogue to a freaking Joss Whedon movie, you're definitely doing something right.
