6. His Love Of Food

Tony Stark appears to have an interesting relationship with food... at least as far as superheroes go. It's pretty rare that we see Cap, Thor or Black Widow munching down on food during a movie (some well-earned shawarma notwithstanding), but especially during the earlier Iron Man films, it was not uncommon for him to be chowing down on cheeseburgers before a press conference, donuts after causing mayhem at his home, and blueberries while goofing around in the lab. Most of these food-related moments are in fact Downey's own doing: he frequently hides food on the vast majority of his movie sets, superhero or not, and will start tucking into the food mid-take if the moment strikes him. Though Downey and his co-stars largely refuse to reveal why he does this (or simply don't know), one pleasant by-product is that it actually helps enhance the cool, relaxed tenor of the character. If Tony's talking about the next threat facing Earth, doesn't he seem so much more calm and casual if he's munching on some dried fruit while doing it? Audiences might not consciously appreciate it, but it alters how they perceive him in a subtle way, especially considering that he is the only character who does this.
