8 Major Theories For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3

5. The Team Will Get Bigger

As previously said, the Guardians team that appears on the big screen is very different to what came before them in the source material. Instead James Gunn has reached into the obscure from Marvel's back catalogue and pieced together a team of his own.

In Volume 2, the team grew from the initial five to be much bigger. Nebula, Mantis, and seemingly Kraglin joined the family, and Yondu was welcomed into the Guardians of the frickin' Galaxy by Rocket and Groot before sacrificing himself. With the almost endless list of cosmic characters available to Gunn, there is no reason to think the team won't grow again.

Several classic members of the team did appear in Volume 2, including original Guardians Starhawk, Martinex, and Charlie-27, and if Sylvester Stallone, Michael Rosenbaum, or Ving Rhames are free, why not bring them back? Alternatively, Gunn could utilize characters that have joined the team in the comics since the movie came out. As unlikely as it may be, imagine Volume 3 introducing Ben Grimm to the MCU.

Much more likely is the introduction of the cosmic characters fans have been calling for for years. The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise seems a perfect opportunity to introduce big names like Beta Ray Bill, Nova, Nathan Fillion's Wonder Man, or even the recent Marvel Studios acquisition, the Silver Surfer.
