4. Drax Will Die

At the same time as the team growing with each movie, both installments of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise have ended with a death in the team. Volume 1 was the end of Groot before Baby Groot was introduced as a brand new character, and Volume 2 saw Yondu make the ultimate sacrifice for his team.

This kind of emotional gut punch has become a staple of the franchise, and with the team growing and growing, there will likely be the need to thin the heard just a little bit.

The character most likely to bite the dust in Volume 3 is Drax. Though the Destroyer has arguably grown more throughout his four movies than any other of the Guardians, his entire story arc is seemingly at an end. Originally hell bent on revenge against Ronan and Thanos, there is only limited directions Gunn can take his story now that both his mortal enemies are dead.

The most value Dave Bautista's character can offer the third installment is of the emotional kind, as he is an established character that fans have come to love. Rather than a death like Quicksilver's that came before fans had a chance to get attached, this would be much more gut-wrenching, similar to that of Gamora, Vision, or Loki in Infinity War.
