Pre-2014, you'd have to have been a real fan of the comic books to know who the Guardians of the Galaxy were, and even then, the team that made it to the big screen was almost unrecognisable to the source material. James Gunn took a lot of creative licence with the franchise, and with the help of an incredible cast and a couple of hilarious scripts, has turned the Guardians into a powerhouse of the comic book movie world.
After a lot of speculation and question marks hovering over the third installment in the franchise, we can rest easy knowing that the Guardians of the Galaxy will make their long awaited return to the big screen, and with James Gunn back at the helm no less.
Apart from this however, we actually know relatively little about Volume 3, not even a release date. Likely the movie will fill one of the MCU's open 2023 slots, as the director is committed to completing work on 2021's The Suicide Squad first. This gives us fans plenty of time to think and theorize just what we will see when Star Lord and co. eventually return.
