6. Iron Man 3 (2013)
Despite the divisive twist mid-way through, this was a much tighter and truer character study of Tony Stark and his PTS frailties than Endgame managed to be.
Following the events in New York at the end of The Avengers, Tony Stark is a nervous wreck, suffering from panic attacks and obsessed with protecting Earth. Not since Christopher Nolan's Batman has a superhero been presented as being so fractured.
Iron Man 3 gives us an insight into Tony's mind like no other film featuring the character. He is broken, but also still burdened with pride; so much so that he'd rather share his anxieties with a kid than talk about it with those closest to him.
But Iron Man 3 was more than just a Tony Stark therapy session. The ever reliable Shane Black ensured the action and plot were as engaging as had ever been in any Iron Man film, with a spectacular finale that is both exhilarating and conclusive to the official trilogy.
