8 Mind-Blowing Ways Your Favourite Pop Culture Universes Are Connected
4. Archie Helps Connect TMNT With Marvel And The DC Universe
Before getting somewhat rehabilitated in the eyes of the public thanks to Netflix’s Riverdale, the adventures of Archie Andrews were primarily known for being aggressively bland, non-offensive, and colorful, much like the old Ninja Turtles cartoon. So, it made sense that the two should crossover in an aggressively bland, non-offensive, and colorful comic in 1991.
It equally made sense for the Archie writers to finally get to blow off some steam three years later in yet another crossover comic where Archie and the Riverdale gang meet Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. Sadly, the sequence where Frank shreds Jughead’s face on a merry-go-round mirror has been cut from the final issue.
What DID make it into the comic, though, is the last sequence where The Punisher heads on to Gotham City to hunt for Batman. This is where the Alien Xenomorphs come into the picture.
