Directing a picture set in this galaxy far, far away comes with its fair share of perks.

And one of them could be seen during the final act of Rian Johnson's middle-sequel known as Episode VIII - The Last Jedi.

Coming into that project, Johnson had been done a solid by the man behind the prior entry into the Star Wars big-screen canon, Gareth Edwards. The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director had sneaked Johnson into his own spin-off picture, with the eventual Knives Out creator hiding in plain sight within the Death Star's firing chamber.

To repay the favour, then, Johnson opted to chuck Edwards into his Star Wars story. But where Johnson couldn't really get himself noticed thanks to the Imperial helmet he was locked inside of, the Rogue One director's mug was hilariously there for all to see.

As a Resistance soldier inspects a footprint made by one of his colleagues on the planet of Crait, Edwards can be seen playing an onlooker. He then pulls a rather amusingly disgusted face at the sight of his fellow freedom fighter suddenly tasting the salty ground, a fun little beat that simply could not be missed whether you knew this extra was the bloke behind one of the greatest Star Wars tales of the Disney era or not.
