8 More Background Actors In Star Wars Who Got Themselves Noticed

Look, how could WhatCulture get through two of these lists without saluting one of the greatest background characters of all time?

Once again unintentionally highlighting how incompetent the Empire's forces were on-screen, one unfortunate stormtrooper's head accidentally collided with the door above them - and the rest was hilarious history.

It's now become an adored part of the Star Wars experience, and one of those wonderful unplanned moments fans of that first film now cheer just as much as the visual of Luke blowing up the damn Death Star.

But not only did actor Laurie Goode, the person reportedly in that suit on the day (via THR), unexpectedly immortalise themselves with this background botch, they also very nearly had another kind of accident on the day.

According to Goode, he was suffering from an upset stomach whilst shooting and had been in and out of the bathroom. Then, during the fourth take of that now-legendary scene and as his stomach rumbled, his head suddenly collided with the door as the troopers arrived in the control room.

But with no one shouting "cut!", Goode just assumed the shot wasn't wide enough to include his mistake.

Oh, how wrong he was.

And rather than just ignoring this very obvious error, George Lucas would later add a little sound effect to the smack in its 2004 re-release and even pay tribute to it with a Jango Fett head bonk in Episode II - Attack of the Clones.

Goode may not have meant to get himself noticed, but that doesn't change the fact that his bonked trooper has since become a cherished, silly part of this galaxy far, far away.
