6. Buzz Lightyear Freezes Instinctively - Toy Story

The Theory: It's often cited as a "plot hole" that Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) freezes up in the first Toy Story movie despite being unaware of the fact that he's a toy.

Numerous rebukes to this perceived fallacy have been raised over the years: for one, perhaps Buzz freezes in order to blend in with the toys and not risk revealing their true nature to the humans.

The most widely-cited theory, however, is that freezing is an involuntary toy response in the presence of humans, regardless of their own self-awareness (or in Buzz's case, lack thereof).

The Confirmation: Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich was asked about this so much during the movie's production that he eventually went to Twitter and set the record straight, confirming that Buzz's freezing is indeed an "involuntary instinct."
