8 More Movie Trailers That Blatantly Lied To You
4. Drive
What The Trailer Promised:
A ‘Fast and the Furious’ style, high paced, high action thrill ride.
What We Got:
An indie critical and commercial triumph, but one that didn’t really feature that much driving at all. It’s a great deal more atmospheric than the trailer would have you believe, and although it is graphic and violent, it is done in less of a light-hearted, bombastic fashion than the Fast and Furious movie vibe the trailer gave off.
In fact, the film differed so much from the trailer that one viewer attempted to get a lawsuit out of the movies misleading advertising. By now at least, the film is famous enough that most people know roughly what to expect going in.
