6. Check For Vital Signs - Se7en
One of the most disturbing, rewatchable crime movies ever made, Se7en is packed full of tiny details, like this cleverly-planted line of dialogue that hints at future events.
One of the movie's very first scenes finds Brad Pitt's Detective Mills and Morgan Freeman's Detective Somerset walking outside in the rain, heading towards the crime scene that's based on the 'gluttony' sin.
Along the way, an officer at the scene mentions that he hasn't touched the body in any way, to which Mills replies "Wait a minute. No-one bothers with vital signs?" with the character seemingly adamant there's a chance the victim could still be alive.
And while the gluttony victim was definitely dead, Mills' thought - that checking for vital signs is important because not every victim at a crime scene will be deceased - turns out to be right on the money.
Later in the movie when Mills, Somerset and a bunch of cops stumble upon the 'sloth' crime scene, no-one does bother to check for vital signs, and surprise! The victim turns out to be alive. In very poor shape, but alive.
Mills' earlier comment seemed quite throwaway (and shortly after he brings the vital signs subject up, Somerset even asks him why he bothered to do so) so it's easy to forget by the time the sloth scene rolls around.
