The Wachowskis have obviously got a thing for seeing double, lacing the original Matrix movie with as many identical twins as they could find in the iconic red dress scene.
If you were too focussed on the sexy lady transforming into Elrond and shooting Neo in the face, it's not all that surprising, since it's pretty traumatising. If you take a closer look at the background extras milling around however, there's plenty of real-life copy and pasted humans lurking throughout the scene - the result of the directors scouting as many twins and triplets as they could find whilst in Sydney, Australia.
Apparently, this is to represent Cypher's laziness when it comes to generating code, and probably how easily we're sucked into the matrix's all too believable construction even when we're being taught to look past it. Bloody Elrond.
