8 Most Genius Moments In Deadpool's Marketing Campaign

4. Comic-Con

I've never been to Comic-Con, but I have been following and reporting on it for a long time now. In all that time, never once do I remember a trailer which has premiered at the event being met with chants of "One More Time" as if the fans in attendance had been transformed into the crowd you normally get at WWE Raw the night after WrestleMania! It was a big mistake for Fox to kick the Marvel portion of their panel off with Fantastic Four as Deadpool completely overshadowed that and X-Men: Apocalypse. Reynolds started by thanking the "asshole" who leaked the footage and those in Hall H for forcing the studio to finally give it the green light, and while new plot details were scarce, the promise of a faithful adaptation were more than enough to win even the most sceptical fans over. The panel even included some very funny digs at the character's appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It was the footage which really impressed though. In a Comic-Con which saw a goosebump inducing behind the scenes look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens debut along with epic Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad trailers, it says a lot that Deadpool was the only one of those which fans demanded to see more than once. Deadpool's trailer was also the only one of those listed above which wasn't officially released (it did appropriately leak for a short time), but the fact that it's all any of us were talking about also says a lot for just how much buzz the Merc with the Mouth generated at San Diego. If anyone won Comic-Con this year, it's Deadpool.
