8 Most Genius Moments In Deadpool's Marketing Campaign
5. @VancityReynolds
By rights, Ryan Reynolds should be a much bigger star than he currently is. The Canadian actor delivered an Oscar worthy performance in Buried (he at least deserved a nomination for that claustrophobic thriller), but starring in a string of flops seriously damaged his credibility at the box office. No doubt the worst of those was Green Lantern, an epic failure which will have left that franchise on the shelf for nearly a decade by the time a reboot is released. He's made better choices in recent years, but it's Deadpool which might just end up being his redemption, especially if it takes the box office by storm. Regardless of what it might do for his career, the movie and character are two things the actor is extremely passionate about, and he's done everything he can to promote it through social media. Reynolds' unique sense of humour (which really isn't all that different to Wade Wilson's...) has kept fans entertained, but so too have the random images from the movie he's been dropping over the past few months. When Deadpool #200 was released - the character's final appearance before the Secret Wars event which saw him get killed off - the actor Tweeted out an image of himself in full costume reading the issue while sitting on the toilet. Before Comic-Con, he sent out a photo of the him as Deadpool trying to hitch a ride to the annual event. It's this which has kept Deadpool on everyone's radar this year as the popularity of the character has ensured that site's of every type rush to get them up for the easy hits. Just how involved Fox is in this unique marketing campaign isn't clear, but there's no denying the fact that Reynolds has so far been this movie's best ambassador to date.
