8 Movie Characters With Completely Irrational Fears

7. Wolverine Is Afraid To Fly, Even Though He Can Survive Anything

X-Men's Wolverine is the ultimate comic book bad-ass. He fights like a bad-ass, smokes cigars like a bad-ass, even has metal claws like a bad-ass; he also doesn't like to fly, a fairly common phobia that director Bryan Singer likely brought to the character in an effort to make him seem more relatable.

Here's the thing, though: Wolverine is basically invincible, and has an adamantium exoskeleton that makes him pretty much impervious to damage. So even if he hadn't been born with a mutation that means he can heal at ridiculous rates, Wolverine's also got bones covered in a layer of essentially-indestructible metal. Plane crashes shouldn't prove a problem to someone like that; if Wolverine were to jump out of a moving jet at 40,000 feet, he'd probably still be OK.

You could potentially put Logan's irrational fear down to his being something of a technophobe - as a result of him being a 19th-century man in a 21st-century world, perhaps - if only he hadn't had his memory pre-1970s already wiped.
