One of the most popular movie fan theories of all time is the Pixar theory, which speculates that every single Pixar movie exists within the same shared universe.

While this has been debunked by Pixar chief Pete Docter, it hasn't stopped fans trying to connect the dots each time the animation giant releases a new film.

This year's Turning Red was no different, and in the days after the movie hit Disney Plus, a theory started doing the rounds which claimed that Abby, one of the film's lead characters, is actually a grown-up version of Boo from Monsters Inc.

Now, in fairness, the two characters do look similar, and there's even a moment in Turning Red where Abby hugs the Red Panda after seeing it for the first time, exclaiming "YOU'RE SO FLUFFY!" in a way that seemed to echo how Boo found the similarly-furry Sulley all cuddly and adorable.

There's other evidence too - like the flowers on Abby's clothes almost matching the flowers on Boo's door - but the theory was soon put to bed by Turning Red director Domee Shi, who definitively stated "Abby is not an older Boo", in a recent interview.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
