5. Vampires - Twilight
Vampires are meant to stalk the night, preying on the innocent and drinking the blood of virgins in their complete representation of all that is demonic and ungodly. That is the true vampire. They are meant to be fanged, bone white, loveless individuals who live in shadows and darkness, to whom the very touch of sunlight is deadly. Not sparkly. There isnt much to be said about the relationship between true vampire fans and twilights heartthrob presentations of the very same monster that hasnt already been said. We hate the Twilight films because they took what we loved in our horror and gave them a dose of High School Musical and gut wrenchingly terrible acting. Who Can Save Them? Well for starters, a healthy dose of garlic to any vampire that sparkles. But if were talking movies, then the upcoming Byzantium might just be the ticket. Going back to the gothic appeal and tragic storytelling that usually accompanies vampires, Byzantium is being helmed by Neil Jordan, who last forayed into films of the nosferatu with the critically acclaimed Interview with the Vampire. The film revolves around a mother/daughter vampire team wreaking havoc on the shores of England. If there was ever a film that needed to be so violent, tragic and gothic as the vampire film to both follow up Interview and blank out Twilight, this seems like the one to pull it off.
