8 Movie Plot Holes You Didn't Realise The Movie Actually Solved
5. Why Was The Park So Understaffed? - Jurassic Park
The "Plot Hole": Why the hell was Jurassic Park so scarcely-staffed during the events of the movie? We see dozens of employees in the first act of the film, so it seems awfully careless for an island housing genetically engineered dinosaurs to be left in the custody of just a few crew members when the s*** hits the fan, no?
Why It Actually Isn't: This is explained perfectly well enough in the film: there is a tropical storm which necessitates the evacuation of all non-essential personnel, and as the park is largely automated, it only requires Ray Arnold (Samuel L. Jackson), Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) and Robert Muldoon (Bob Peck) to stay behind.
Sure, the staff members clearly didn't need to be evacuated considering how well the island withstood the storm, and it was more a convenient way to focus the narrative on a smaller cast of characters above all else, but it makes sense enough.
