8 Movie Plot Holes You Didn't Realise The Movie Actually Solved

4. Why Did Oram Look At The Facehugger Egg? - Alien: Covenant

The "Plot Hole": Why the hell would Captain Oram (Billy Crudup) follow David (Michael Fassbender) down to the egg chamber and peek his head in a bizarre alien egg after just witnessing David interacting with a Neomorph?

Why It Actually Isn't: Much like when fans mistakenly called the stupid behaviour of Prometheus' scientists a plot hole, Oram's dubious character logic here is not a plot hole in the slightest.

Lazy writing? Absolutely, but the physical A-to-B-to-C logic of it isn't wrong, even if Oram comes across as an utter moron for effectively getting himself killed. The same is basically true for many of the Covenant's other crew members who die in eye-rolling fashion.

It's also important to remember that it's easy to say "Don't look in the Xenomorph egg!" when you live in a world where the Alien franchise exists, but to these characters, it wouldn't be remotely as obvious.
