8 Movies That Everyone Turned Against On A Second Viewing
4. The Dark Knight Rises
The Dark Knight Rises might just well be the most talked about, discussed, debated and downright infernal movie in motion picture history - a curious and ultimately fascinating blockbuster if ever there was one, it's probably safe to say that the majority of movie-goers came out of the third and final Christopher Nolan-helmed Batman adventure feeling like they'd seen a good movie... but were lots of them also clinging to a strange sense of disappointment, a feeling of lacking satisfaction that they couldn't quite shake? That seems to have been the case. So it took a second viewing for most people to get their heads around this one, when they weren't concentrating on trying to figure out the confusing plot, and for an army of detractors to suddenly emerge, ready to take on fans of the movie who were prepared to defend it to the death. The problem with the movie is simply that is isn't perfect, but coming off the back of The Dark Knight, there were certain expectations and... well, you know the rest of the story. But it's probably true that fans didn't really know what they'd seen when the credits rolled on Rises that first time. It's not, after all, an inherently satisfying movie in the same way that its predecessors are. Second viewings confirmed a lot of Rises' nagging flaws for a lot of people, when they had another chance to process what they'd seen all over again, which resulted in a fair amount of changed opinions from casual fans and fanboys on both sides of the fence. And the jury's still out.
