7. Doctor Strange
The rumour mill has been churning for a long time now about the good doctor becoming part of Marvel's Phase 3. Stephen Strange is Marvel's resident magician, a master of the mystic arts that acts as Earth's appointed officer for magic, the Sorcerer Supreme. The fact that he lives (and please bear with me here) in a magic house that looks like Starbucks with his Chinese roommate is neither here nor there. The quirky property is conventional enough to appeal to recently converted Marvelites while different enough to stand (hover?) on its own legs, needing relatively few ties to the regular Marvel Universe in order to make it work. Stephen Strange is a dead ringer for Johnny Depp, but it's a grumpy, skeletal Hugh Laurie that I would cast to fill the Doctor's dainty gloves. Get cracking Marvel; the Doctor is in.
