8 Movies That Have Been Annoyingly Over-Quoted

3. Fight Club

Fight Club Soap The first rule of Fight Club is that oh my God you guys aren't really badasses that have this secret dudes only organization where you meet up and beat the crap out of each other to prove your manliness or feel alive or whatever. Fight Club is one of those movies that you see as a teenager and think is the deepest, most edgy thing in the world, and you incorporate its philosophy into your everyday life. Until you get to a certain age and realize that, although it is actually a pretty good movie, it's not the messiah of subversive indie film that you thought it was when you were 15. It's sort of like the movie version of the Doors. And that's all well and good, but your misguided enthusiasm for this film does not excuse the amount of times I've had to listen to some derivative of the rules of Fight Club, alright?
