8 Movies That Put You Off Doing Drugs

Requiem for a Dream Drugs! The Devil's candy! This is the topic of the nine movies below. Each of them are heavily saturated in drug use but they are significant in that they do not glorify drug use. There is no Easy Rider or Psych Out. Most of the films centre on heroin addiction - which is a theme that seems to really capture screen writers' and directors' imaginations. I think it is because heroin can mess your life up so spectacularly that it is the drug de jour among directors. Heroin engenders total absorption in the drug. Users have severe cravings that make them do crazy things in order to satisfy them. There is also the car wreck factor of watching heroin addicts withdraw - screaming, puking and s**ting. It ain't pretty stuff and it makes for good drama. There are a lot of movies out there with a grim view of taking drugs. I have listed the main ones. Please add further ones below and pass the dutchie to the left hand side...

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
