Those of you who live in the Northern hemisphere are probably in a rejoicing mood, for summer is nearly upon us; in fact, it's already started, for all intents and purposes. School's out for the season in most places; publishing companies are rolling out their beach-reading novels; Memorial Day, the inaugural barbecue day of the season, has come and gone (if you live in the United States); stores are displaying bikinis and swimming trunks; and, arguably most important of all, we've been officially launched into the blockbuster-movie season. The blockbusters of the summer season are probably the films we first think of when we hear the term "summer movie," but that's only one sort of summer film. The other type of summer flick, one that's not talked about enough, are the films that celebrate the things that make summer great. Be it baseball, the beach, vacations, flings, or whatever else, these are the movies that help make summer the mythical season that it is. In this article, we'll take a look at ten of the best of such movies. These films are in no particular order; all of these films are so great that it's impossible to rank them. I just wanted to let you know that up front.
